1. The Vision

To bring back the youth of our community.

“We stand for the future generation, to engage in various activities and bring the focus back to the community by supporting religious, social and academic activities in preparation for the imminent return of Imam Mahdi (A.S)”.

2. Aim

To invest time into the youth of our community as well the wider community.

Husaini Youth will continue to serve the community until the imminent re-appearance of Imam Mahdi (A.S).


3. Objectives

To support world causes.

Arrange social activities.

Promote the Shia faith.

To provide moral and religious upliftment to the youth as well as the wider community.

To ensure the youth engage in community work.


4. The Committee

Husaini Youth will be a sub committee of the Jamaat and will be answerable to them on all matters.

The committee will consist of 2 heads one to represent each gender and 5 members of each gender and any other Jamaat reps/coordinators.

The respective youth heads will approach individuals to join committee, if 5 committee members have not been elected at AGM.

Female Youth Coordinators will be appointed by the Chair-lady.

The heads have the option to appoint one other youth member per gender as they see fit to join the committee.

The former youth heads will automatically be placed on the committee.

Post is one year September to September.


5. Youth Heads

The will be 2 Heads of Youth, 1 male, 1 female and both will be nominated by all youth members, both male and female.

Candidates for the Heads must be at least 18 years of age.

All potential candidates may prepare a manifesto 1-week prior to election.

In the event that nominations are received on the day it is at the discretion of the current committee whether it will be accepted or not.

The relevant Youth Head will chair each meeting. In their absence they will appoint another committee member.

6. Committee Meetings

Meetings will be held fortnightly and the quorum should be at least 3 of each gender.

An agenda for the meeting should be prepared before the meeting and sent to all members at least 1 day in advance.

An open forum should be held once every 3 months.

Each meeting should be minuted and the minutes should be sent out to all members within 1 week.

At the beginning of each meeting the minutes of the last meeting should be read by each member and adopted as a true, representative and accurate account of the previous weeks meeting.

If someone is not fulfilling their duties, the youth heads are responsible for resolving such problems.

If the member is not willing to co operate and the success of committee events are being jeopardised; as a last resort a ‘Vote of no confidence’ can be conducted where all committee members must be present.

If a committee member does not attend 3 meetings with no apologies they will be relieved of their post.

Only the Youth Representatives/Coordinators are to approach the appropriate Jamaat representative for approval for Husaini Youth programmes.

7. Rules of Engagement

Each meeting to begin with Tilawat-e-Quran.

All opinions, suggestions and comments of each committee member will be treated with respect and will not be ridiculed.

Hijab will be observed by both genders.

All matters arising in the meetings are to remain confidential.

Criticism should be taken constructively and not taken personally.

All correspondence between members should be in accordance with Islamic Etiquette.

Each meeting will end with a reminder of the action points agreed and confirmation of the date of the next meeting.

8. Voting

Any person between the ages of 14 and 30 can vote in the Husaini Youth Annual General Meeting.

In committee meetings, all members have the right to vote.

In the event of a tie refer to Youth Representatives/co-coordinators.


9. Logo

All posters and official documents should have the HY logo on it. Under no circumstances should anything go out without the logo on it.

10. Resignation

The resignation of a committee member should be addressed to the appropriate Youth Head.

The resignation of a Youth Head should be addressed to the Youth Representative/Co-ordinators.

11. Amending Constitution

An open forum must be held in order to change or amend the constitution as long as the majority of the current youth committee are in favour.
