Iraq Relief – Response from New Jersey

Madrassah students sell wristbands to raise money for the Aeinullah Eye Clinic in Sadr City

“A believer with respect to other believers is related like the head is related to the body. A believer feels the pain of other believers as the head feels the pain of the body."
Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

The students of Az-Zahra Islamic School of New Jersey felt the pain of their fellow brothers and sisters in Iraq. In order to ease their pain, they have embarked on the project of raising funds to set up Aeinullah Eye Clinic in Sadr City.

“I’m afraid if I don’t raise the money quickly, a child may lose his eyesight!”… commented a student!

Equipped with the Hadith of our beloved Prophet (SAW), the support of the World Federation and Blue Silicone Wristbands with SALAM inscribed on them, the students set off to accomplish the project of raising funds for the Aeinullah Eye Clinic in Sadr City.

They spread the message of PEACE and CHARITY to various institutions in their areas, which included the following centres:

Al-Husseini Madressa (New York)
Al-Ahad Center (Allentown)
Tawheed Institute (New York)
Mehfil-e-Khurasan (New Jersey)
Muslim Islamic Foundation-MFI (New Jersey)
Ahlul-Bayt Center (Brooklyn)
The students received an overwhelming response from these centres. “People are very generous”, said a student, “however, I think sometimes they get so busy in their lives they forget to think about the suffering in the world. When we remind them about the situation, they are very supportive!”

The SALAM bands have also been sold at local YMCA’s as well as local schools. Many individuals in Orlando and Los Angeles have also been supporting this cause by selling the bands to their neighbours and friends.

"One who gets up in the morning and his mind is not preoccupied with the matters of Muslims, is not one of them."
