The sharia does not deny a woman to MC an event, hence, in principle there is no problem in it.
If we can have woman lecture at universities, then whay not at Mosques?
However there are boundaries - I dont want to list them cause they are availale in the books of Fiqh anf online. But as an example, in Magrib and Isha Salah, it is wajib to recite the qirat in qiyam(the two surahs) loudly, meaning you have to recite loud enough so that the next person besides can hear your recitation. But for a woman it becomes haram to do that if there is a nah-maharam nearby.
As for Majalis, It is avoided cuase there is emotion involved.
This is my humble opinion, I am not saying we should encourage it or discourage it... am just saying that as per the sharia it is allowed as long as the condition are fullfilled.

Women definitely need a say in the managerial department. Whether they become a part of the committee is a different issue.

bullet Raihanna | 25 Feb : 00:52

It is vital that women play an active role in the decision making process of their Jamaat. Let us all remember that the women of our community are more than capable of adding value to such processes - and if there is no Islamic restrictions then why should women not be allowed to vote or be voted for at local community AGMs?

bullet AW | 25 Feb : 01:08

Just like the youths have a representative in the committee the ladies have a representative in the committee, this way our community is more stream lined and organised i hope. Women should have their own committee to organise and serve the ladies, they should have all their views aired but via a representaive from the management committee

bullet Raihanna | 25 Feb : 01:43

Technically the women do have reps on the MC, but why can't they be a rep themselves?I ask the question again - is there any Islamic reason why this is not allowed?

I aint no religous expert and i say this as my view and my view only, but there is a differnce in to the thinking of the male and the female, this difference is the reason I, ME - belive that a woman should not be part of the management committee. There a numerous resons.

I am not relating our community or posts in our community to imamat when i say this, but i have heard it and it needs to be verified obviosly but if you look in to why a woman can not be an imam and look at the reasons given then MAYBE this will give you MY reasons on why women should not be part of the management committee.

Also, as far as i am aware women have their own management committee, they have thier own mukhi, chailadr, secratary, treasurer just like our youths and our sports groups, Then we have a management committee who they all report to. I am curious to know that if this much freedom is given to women, what are the reasons that you would like women to be part of the management commitee, is there any think in particular that you belive is not being addressed as it should.

As per reply's I have read so far, I can't understand why Women want to be in the management. You women have got your right's to vote and you have your elections every year, you have your secretary and Treasurer. You do have voting rights in your Ladies section whenever there is election, It makes me wonder when I read women should have voting rights. Its sad that when ever we held Women Elections, the turn out is embarrassing and there is no body intrested to stand for the post, and than we as Jamaat has to appoint somebody to take over and when the poor lady tries her best to help the Jamaat there is no support given to her and it makes her life difficult.so i cant understand why suddenly young women are demanding to be allowed to vote, where they have always been allowed to vote and we do have youth women members who already exists in the commitee, who's views are taken aboard and has been actioned by the management commitee, which has been noticed by the general members.

it is clear that women play an active role in the management anyway. being part of the committee should be no different, as they are also representing the proportion of women in more relevant issues. it would be more recognisable to elect just one leader however, and for women to approach just that one individual. anyone agree?

women are capable of being president but they themselves with other men folk who donot bother to turn to meetings and elections this is our collective downfall - allah says - he will not change our situation unlesswe change ourselves.

Hence an chair lady was appointed this year and not elected, before we go about getting a woman president we need to consider the consequenses of our actioins and not just the benifits, also our community needs to change if we were to take womens views in to consideration when making desicions i dont belive we would be having this discussion, dont misunderstand discussion is good, but why are we at this level

bullet mohamed nanji | 28 Feb : 14:20

sorry i donot understand you view , pls explain again exactly what you mean. how can the community change by itself its needs its members to actively take part for it to progress. more active participation other wise it will leave for somebody to do it and that somebody does not exit. youths are doing fansatic work but i hope it has maximum helpers otherwise they will get tired and it will stop so its upto them to invite as many helpers as possible so the burdon is not on few.
